STACKWEAVE

See a custom Stackweave in a recent renovation project here.

Stackweave is a repository for objects on display. Evoking mahi rāranga – the Māori art of weaving, the shelf is suggestive of woven baskets – themselves a repository for domestic and precious objects. Be they taonga, travel books or monographs; objects can be composed within the horizontal and vertical spaces that together form the pattern and utility of kete.

The unit offers variation and choice in shelving space height, without requiring unsightly holes or lugs for adjustable shelves. And the absence of a rear panel results in a compact, flat-packable unit for manageable transportation and negotiation through narrow urban habitats.

Filling Stackweave can become an exercise of endless contemplation and composition, or habitual haphazardness over time. The shelf divisions allow for ordering, separation and sectioning of collections.
